I have found the low pressure sender to be a failure point dating back to my bug days. Continued on into jetta and rabbits and vanagons. Many an oil leak has been traced to that sender. I have seen many an aircooled vanagon driver think that their oil cooler was leaking and it was only the pressure sender sitting right above it. Personally on all my vw engines I replaced that sender right after acquiring it and then every other year when I did belts. jimt
