Years ago, when my daughter rode a large-ish pony, we used my 69 van to transport him. The big advantage was the the entire interior including rubber mat would lift out for a hose-down. the disadvantage was if you turned the car AT ALL to steer it, the driver would be bitten on the shoulder.

We did this many times!
