.......The vanagon name is an interesting one, anybody with some good
insight on  how vw came up with it? .........
I've always figured that it was a combination of Van and Wagon, a
logical choice considering the market they playing to in 1979-1980 North
America.  Suburban families still drove 'Station Wagons' to haul the
kids around but the new vehicle was shaped more like a van.
