In addition to dial up, it's also wise to have a wifi card....you'd be amazed at how many free networks are out there...

If you don't know where there are, you can even get a keychain wifi scanner and drive alongside home/offices/hotels until you see a light.

About 50% of wi-fi networks are completely wide open. That way you get free high speed internet instead of slow dial up.
