Subject: water pump Q on my 84/85
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all ive been off the list for awhile while getting a new computer and high speed.

the question i have is on my 1.9L vanagon water pump

my 85 westi runs on 3 cylinders and i picked up another good used motor to swap. i also picked up a 85 vanagon complete just for fun to part out as i need it. so the new/ used motor is on the engine stand and i spun the water pump to see if it would spin and it spun with no effort or resistance. then i looked in the parts bin and found the other water pump and spun it again just for fun since i dont know what it is supose to feel like. well it felt as if it had resistance and a bit nubby if that makes any sense. still spins but now im not sure which maybe the good one or just what is right. or should i just R/R the water pump since it is a B*tch to get to once installed with all the AC crap in the way. any advise or can you take it to a parts place to have it checked out. thanks Jonce
