Upon close examination, the attaching rivet  is really just a cheap plastic
expanding rivet that is molded into a cable  stop.  I suspect that this part
can be salvaged with a bit of work using  a screw and nut.   The rivet is
nowhere near being up to the task of  the job it was hired for.



I suspect the plastic rivet was there to act  as a safety device if something
got caught in-between the rising window and the  top frame.  The resistance
would cause the rivet to break, stop the window  from rising and not damage
whoever or whatever was in the windows  path.  This is only my observation.  And,
I do replace that plastic  rivet with a metal screw and nut as you have
suggested whenever I am working on  these power window regulators.
