That's the Big Guy with the wide track. The windows stopped working - first one then the other - driver and passenger. Seemed like a PITA to fix. Shops wanted a fortune to do it. But I did it. I decided it was worth learning about, and if all else failed -- I could go to manual cranks. But I didn't look forward to that because a wide vehicle with manual driver and passenger windows is a pain. Turned out to be a snap. Replaced some little teflon guides, pulled the motors, cleaned and lubed the shafts thus freeing everything up, lubed some gears, put it all back together and it ran like a champ. Never had anymore problems.

Though I haven't had the pleasure on a Vanagon, I'll bet it is not that difficult. I think that repairing your windows is a worthwhile thing. We I you, I would get with the program and fix it myself.
