Lubbers all,

Thanks for all of the input regarding Billy Bones' bucking problem. Yesterday while I was on the road, it was very cold and windy and I looked about under the 'hood' a number of times for something obvious. However, I saw nothing. So, I drove on to NC today and with warmer weather and less stress, I took another peek under the hood.

The vacuum line coming off the back side of the throttle body had worked its way loose (it LOOKED connected, but it was just sitting there unconnected).

Back when I installed this new engine, I thought that I replaced every line on the bus (water, fuel, vacuum) with the exception of those fuel tank lines. Now I realize that there was one very short, maybe 1.5 inches long, bit of line that I failed to replace. It was split and had worked its way off. I replaced it and vroom - ole Bill Bones was happy again.

So thanks to everyone who responded with tips and ideas.

I still have that slight elevation in idle speed, so I'm going to snoop around for the cause.

Thanks again one and all!

Warren Lail 88 Westy "Billy Bones"

"Ah, said he, 'this'll be as good as drink to my mate Bill.' The expression on his face as he said these words was not at all pleasant. But this was no affair of mine. The stranger kept hanging about just inside the inn door, peering round the corner like a cat waiting for a mouse. He patted me on the shoulder, and told me I was a good boy. 'I have a son of my own,' said he, 'as like you as two blocks, and he's the pride of my 'art. But the great thing for boys is discipline, sonny, - discipline.'"
