Al I need a good rod recon man when can you start? The Vanagon rod has a little more to it than that the small end has a bushing that is replaced when the rod is rebuilt and the rod needs to be checked for twist and bend. 2.1 rods from the factory are dam close in weight and balance and I would not spend a minute with balancing a good used set other than to check the total weights of each. The seasoned rod is my preference because it has been threw the heat cycles proved itself over time rebuilt is better than new depending on who rebuilt it The diesel rods I would rebuild without question because its a diesel. One problem with rebuilding diesel rods is that if they are not the same height when done it can vary the compression. Yes I can speak from experience I had only one diesel rod rebuilt on a 1.6 and the compression was lower on that cylinder because the rod was shorter. fussy diesels Bob Donalds |
