Hi Listees, I am doing a bit of tuneing etc. on my '82 air cooled vanagon and have a couple of questions for ya'll. Does anyone have a technique for cleaning installed heat exchangers? Mine don't seem to be too dirty and they heat really well but there is a bit of an oily smell when the engine gets really warm (currently no oil leaks above/into heat exchangers). I have planned to remove enough ducting to be able to spray the air passage with a steam cleaner, is this an awful idea? Does anyone have experience with the Bus Depot replacement thermostats? I am having trouble determining if my current thermostats 6mm of expansion/contraction is enough so I thought I'd just replace it but I have heard that most new thermostats are very proned to fail. Thanks all, Jonathan Poole |
