Does the vanagon waterboxer have a cold-start valve, or is the increase in fuel controlled purely by the ECU? I know that there is a Temp I sensor in the AFM and a Temp II sensor connected to the thermostat, but I've never been able to find a fifth injector that dumps extra fuel into the system when cold. I've assumed that this was handled by some type of timer related to the ECU (for the first 20 seconds, there is a richer fuel/air mixture pumped into the system).

Sorry, I'm not being more helpful with Anthony's problem on the air-cooled..
