Auto Union? The Eurish version of 'General Motors', maybe? Don't like it. Trying to imagine what the badge would look like. Think they should stick with VW.

From a press note on home of sport uk

VW to change name? - 22 December 2004

The largest European carmaker not involved with Formula One, Volkswagen, may be considering a change of name.

The Wolfsburg-based brand, though, denied the media speculation, the press office insisting that the name is 'rooted in tradition.'

Earlier, the German 'Bild' newspaper said parent company VW may become 'Auto Union' to differentiate between the Volkswagen and similarly-owned Audi vehicle lines.

The VW holding company also controls Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda and - soon - Bugatti.
