Subject: Cutting Back Coolant lines?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

In order to fit a new filter in my van engine bay, I am thinking of moving/changing the two coolant lines that run to the front of the van. The rubber hoses that go to and come from the engine, connect into hard (plastic or metal Iım not sure) lines that then run under the length of the van to the radiator. I need to drop these lines down about 8 inches to make room, so I am thinking of draining the system, using a manual pipe clamp to cut the hard lines upstream (towards the front of the van) by about two feet, and then bridging the gap with a new piece of hose and a hose repair kit. I canıt really see any reason why this might be a problem but I thought Iıd check with you all before I go out and do it. As long as Iım careful to make all the connections tight, anyone see a problem with any of this?

Dave
