OK here's what worked for me. Fall arrives and my blower motor stops working. Being normal, I procrastinate hoping it will self repair. No Luck so I break down and search out prices on blower motors. My local FLAPS has the best deal so I order it. meanwhile, temperature plummets (it no being winter , temperaturly if not officially.

Motor arrives and is thrown into van as it is far to cold to work on. Temp rises to an almost tolerable level. Don't know why but I turn on fan switch to high. there is a clonk and the fan spins in to life. It still works a month later. I keep the new fan in the van just so the old one doesn't get any ideas about packing it in again. > > mike..face it.. your blower motor is siezed.. no matter how much > you dont > wanna hear it.. you can swap switches till the cows come home.. you > can do > what some others here on the list have done, drill some access holes > and use a > microscope, night vision anal probe camera, and telepathy, and a long > catheter hose, and pray you dribble some oil on the shaft.. or > somewhere in the > vicinity of the shaft (murphy's law, if you dump enough in there its > bound to > lubricate something..("honey, why does our wbx vanagon smell like our > old '71 bus > did when you turn on the heat?") but thats about it.. bottom line is > the > whole dash has to come out. > my condolences.. we have a "i cannot accept that my dash blower motor > is > siezed" list support group that meets here every tues nite at 7 in > vanagon.com > chat. > please join. > > i'm already a member. :<) > > chris
