The badge would look like four circles intertwined, each one representing one of the four auto makers that merged to form Auto Union... wait... that's Audi. Looks like it's already been done.

Auto Union was created in the 30's when Audi, Horch, Wanderer and DKW merged. Since the late 70's, all of the Auto Union vehicles have worn the Audi name.

Cheers,

Jeff

Auto Union? The Eurish version of 'General Motors', maybe? Don't like it. Trying to imagine what the badge would look like. Think they should stick with VW.

VW to change name? - 22 December 2004

The largest European carmaker not involved with Formula One, Volkswagen, may be considering a change of name.

The Wolfsburg-based brand, though, denied the media speculation, the press office insisting that the name is 'rooted in tradition.'

Earlier, the German 'Bild' newspaper said parent company VW may become 'Auto Union' to differentiate between the Volkswagen and similarly-owned Audi vehicle lines.

The VW holding company also controls Bentley, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda and - soon - Bugatti.
