I had a new (U.S. made) glass put in my 82 about 8 years ago. I am
sure it scratches much more easily than the original. If you put them in
yourself, I think a good condition junkyard one would be the best
solution short of an original German one. Mine was replaced by the
insurance company after I bumped it from the inside with a piece of
plastic conduit.- they sure aren't very strong from the back!
