Pete, Here's what to do for any automotive glass needs.

Pick up the yellow pages and locate probalbly a bunch of local listings for automotive glass supplier's.

It's a real competitive business, and not only can you shop number's but theywill come to your locationand install the windsheild for the price of the glass. Where the Van is sitting. They will come to you.

The most I have ever paid for a winsheild installed is $150.00 for PPG or LOF with a heavy tint.

And as long as your having the glass replaced it might be a good time to R&R that old, hardened winsheild rubber moulding. You buy the rubber, the glazer will replace it with the glass for not one dime more.

And for that price why even hassle with installing it yourself.

Subject: Re: Windshields: all years the same? follow-on question for stan w.: stan, you suggested canvassing glass distributors for leftover inventory they may want to unload. any knowledge of what price to offer them? i guess the max-min might be new street price - used street price?? with your "old distributor inventory" item priced somewhere in between? i'm up in the salty northeast (land of pitted windshields) and will need to replace mine soon as well. currently have no knowledge of windshield pricing? any assistance is welcomed. TIA, pete
