Subject: Wanted: 1985-or-later front stubaxles anyone in LA area?
Content-type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=us-ascii

To fit Porsche brakes to my 84 Caravelle I need a set of later stubaxles ie 1985 or later. I have only just found this out. Of course these parts are not available here in NZ... unless I wanna buy new (I HEAR you laughing). Anyone in the LA area have a set? I have a "tame" shipper in LA.

What I need is the complete stubaxle unit (colloqially nicknamed "knucke", "upright" etc) ie the front suspension item which the wheelbearings run on, the steering radius rods (them items what connect the steering rack to the stubs' Pitman arms) and upper & lower wishbones attach to. Come to think of it, I also need a set of radius rods from a POWER-steer van, to get best advantage when I fit my powered rack. I don't need the brake rotors or calipers, but you never know whether they might come in handy (in case I ever decide to strip the performance gear and return this van to stock). Wheelbearing races must not have spun on the stubs and the calipers, if any, must be in good order).

I think the Whiteline swaybars I bought (my bus has fabricated lower wishbones) will still fit... I have never looked closely at the suspension, the van was on the road such a short time after I bought it...

Let the bidding begin... -- Andrew Grebneff Dunedin New Zealand Fossil preparator <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut
