Howdy List,

I have a few thoughts to add to the sliding door conversation:

My '82 westy almost certainly came from the factory with the 2nd handle on the sliding door.

I have seen the second handle incorrectly installed in a vertical position and the scratches that resulted on the rear right exterior of the bus.

The sliding door on my '82 shows little wear and after removing it, cleaning and regreasing all moving parts and then checking all adjustments it works great. It is a bit harder to close than a perfect late-model door but is similar to a late-model door that hasn't been overhauled. Nobody has any trouble closing my sliding door once they figure out which way to move the handle.

Happy new year,

Jonathan Poole
