I tried to jack on that front crossmember one time and it began to dimple
the metal a bit when I took the weight of the van on the jack. I believe
that I went to the jacking points for the front (doing one side at a time),
and I think I've tried the bottom of the arms in front as well (if I'm not
confusing vehicles here). I prefer to raise the whole end at once if I can,
but I didn't want to bend anything and I didn't have me old chunk of wood
handy that time, as I recall.
I considered, briefly, putting the jackstands under the bumper mounts out
front but I decided that was a bit iffy and I was being unnecessarily greedy
for space. One thing I do like about the Vgons is that you can get your
jackstands out of the way right by the wheels and you have room for days
under there. Much nicer than most other vehicles I've been under.
