Subject:      Sad sighting in Baltimore pick n pull yard, 85 Westy GL

In Crazy Ray's lot in Baltimore there is what is left of an 85 Westy
GL.  A good bit is gone at this point, but what is left shows the
condition of this van when someone gave up on it.  The body is just
about perfect and I imagine that most of the scratches on it came from
when it was being placed in the yard.  There is absolutely no rust
anywhere on the outside.  The rear bumper is only slightly bent.  What
is left of the interior is very clean and almost new looking.   The
stove was never used.  The van had the extra pedestal seat although
someone has already gotten it.  The cabinets were in good shape.  The
stove has been removed at this point.

On the down side, the poptop canvas was put away wet at some point as it
is rotted out and the outer gasket has come loose.   What many of us
would have given to get a shot at this van right before the owner
abandoned it.  Even if the engine was shot, it would have been
infinitely superior to many of the restoration projects undertaken by
list members.
