Just to put my 2 cents in.

I do not believe in using silicone sealer on aluminum blocks or components. Aluminum is porous and oil or coolant will be absorbed into it. When the oil or coolant meets a dry gasket, it stops. When it meets the silicone sealer it separates the sealer from the aluminum and you end up with a leak.
