I've used Loctite 574 for years. VWs and Porsches seems to like it. Back when I was rebuilding type 1 engines for a living I used the blue stuff (can't remember the name) that was used on Rolls Royce engines. Work very well, but expensive.

BTW: Loctite is a German company, perhaps that's why it's specified for so many German cars...

While doing a search to see what adhesives VW is using on todays vehicles I ran across this. (all their thread locker and bearing sleeve stuff appears to still all be loctite)

Think of how much of a vehicle 70 meters of lazer welding is.
