I have seen it done.  The vanagon had the reg fridge removed and replaced
with a heater and some other stuff like a really big battery bank and
charger and tools.  Didn¹t normally use regular ice from what he told me.
Usually he found locations for dry ice.  He said he normally only carried
ice when going through southwest US.  Mostly carried dehydrated stuff rather
than stuff needing a fridge or cooling.

There isnt a lot of room in that space going down from the top.  Even with
the divider removed.  Need to relocate your electrical outlet as well.

The driver is a Canadian.  Said he works only from early or late october
though early march with northern transportation companies.  Spends the rest
of the year recuperating.

Just recently saw an article on TV about truck driving company that
maintains ice roads during that time of year.  If that is where he is
working he has more nerve than I have.
