With the lack of rust-free Vanagons on the east coast (not as bad as bay/splits, but getting that way) I'd expect a nice one to go for MORE over here than on the west coast. I guess it all applies to supply and demand. and a Vanagon-loving people. Still, it doesn't matter. Steve owns that van and can put whatever price on it he wishes. You buy or you don't, no harm done. It also sounds like he knows what he's doing and who he's selling to. Good for him!

re: housing prices -- anything in a trendy area is getting to be frightening. I've found this means the people who can afford to buy on the high side of the market tend to be OK spending amounts for things that the rest of us might feel is excessive. Only downside to that behavior is it'll drive up prices for the whole category (Vanagons, houses or whatever) pretty darn quickly.

Now, can anyone point me to a *real* good write-up on removing seam rust? It's just poking out it's ugly head which means I've got a mess behind the panels to fix this summer.

john
