I have found 80 to be the "safest". More stops to rest up at with better facilities to lay over at as well. Depending where in minnesota I would probably go south to catch 80 and head west that way, and then depending on how you like your mountain passes, maybe take 25 south out of denver to albaquerque and head west again. With the storms in the high country right now the souther Raton pass into NM is better than the Eisenhaur tunnel and closures on 70 right now.
