Sounds like you have a blockage somewhere. it could be a faulty thermostat - one that won't open. If that is not it, then there most likely is a blockage somewhere.

The thermostat differences - 80C vs 87C - doesn't do much for the cooling. Thsoe are the temps at which the thermostats open, but the engine typically operates a bit above those temperatures. The temperature Gage warning light, and the Temperature Gage Needle are the real indicators of temperature.
