Hey Stephen- I just joined the list, so if Joy already forwarded this to you since I wasn't a member when I originally wrote it, this is a duplicate! My friend Joy forwarded the email to me about your planned trip- I live in the UP just a block off Lake Superior, and have some ideas for you. I did the Circle Tour several years ago, and really enjoyed it. In Canada I mostly stayed at Provincial Parks (like our State Parks) and found them to be clean, and the people nice and helpful. If you want info about the parks, go to www.OntarioParks.com. I would suggest a day or two in Sault Ste Marie- lots of history here, the Soo Locks are a really interesting and it is fun to watch a Great Lakes freighter go thru them. You get to see the boats up close and it is truly amazing how BIG they are! A bit west of the Soo and Brimley is the Iroqois Point Lighthouse- a small musuem and you can climb to the top of the tower for a great view. Further west at Whitefish Point is the lighthouse, that is where the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the 70's. They have a great shipwreck musuem there, and you can tour the keepers house. Tahquamenon Falls is near there, there is a nice campground in the State Park, and hiking trails. I would be glad to send you some brochures if you want to send me your address. I can get the Circle Tour Guide Book for you too, which has lots of info about places all around the lake. I am putting my house up for sale in April, moving into my 83 Westy full-time and going on a wander as soon as it sells. If I am still here, I would be glad to provide a place to park for a day or so if you want. I have access to the beach here, and it is usually warm enuf in August for swimming. Let me know if I can help. Barb
