Tolga,

To hold the lighter socket in when the tabs are broken is to cut a short piece of appropriate size rubber heater hose to fit around the back of the lighter socket. You might have to slice the heater hose lengthwise, can't quite remember. Put the socket back in the dash, put the heater hose over the back and using either a hose clamp or a Nylon zip tie tighten up the rubber hose. Have the hose tight against the back of the dash before tightening. I didn't quite have a hose clamp that was narrow enough to work, so I used the zip tie. Seems to hold great. Tain't going nowhere now.

If you need the large heater hose, I believe that I have some left over - send me a p-mail.

A radar detector I bought once came with a thin narrow round tube to place in the lighter socket to use on European cars. Perhaps making some circular shim, will work for you.

John 81 Westy - no longer for sale and now people call me back - what do I do?
