I can't bite my tongue on this one, but some of you already know who Bostig Engineering is, and what we're about to release for the vanagon community(actually our first few products as we migrate from our performance/custom base to product development), I thank you for helping us keep it secret until the right moment :)

The teaser I can provide is that we have both solutions discussed in this thread. We have a solution for the waterboxer crowd that provides more power, torque, and better throttle response, on the dyno we're seeing double digit percentage gains over stock in hp and torque, more in modified or "big valve" applications. We're looking to roll out next month, target price is under $500.

We also have a new engine conversion solution that addresses many of the maligned aspects of up-to-now options. Our main focus in development was to find a solution that addressed initial cost, ongoing-cost, power, power-potential, vibration, simplicity, reliability, availability of parts AND service, and ease of install. Our solution is a practical and exciting alternative to what everyone's been used to, and we hope to make a mark in the community as a group that can provide real value and innovation in exchange for your support.

Details will be forthcoming, actually we're trying to put together a video of our converted westy syncro for everyone to check out, complete with an interesting demo, which may be the only engine conversion for the vanagon capable of it (intentionally breaking the timing belt of a running engine, then swapping a new one on in about 10 minutes and driving away)

We're also looking for interested eastcoast/northeast vanagon owners that are looking at engine options. We're offering free installation fo the first few folks, as well as complete instruction and familiarization on the conversion (good opportunity to get some free instruction on basic auto mechanics specific to your vehicle, EFI, and OBDII)

I welcome any direct questions via email or phone, and please give a call if you'd like to setup a time to see/ride in a converted vanagon. We're hoping to put together a little roll-out-roll-out and hit the road in the converted westy syncro in march with both solutions on board for people to see/try.

There will be reading materials on the website by the end of the month, under the product heading (not up yet) this is the vanagon list exclusive tease!

See you soon!
