Subject: Backfiring?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Well after beind kicked off the list by the automated server and now finally back on, I have added some new quirks to the list of things I want to take care of.

I have noticed occasionaly that if I am cruising in 4th and let off of the accelerator that I get some wicked backfires. It has only done this in 4th until recently now it is happening in 3rd as well. I suspect a leak in the exhaust but I have not been able to dig into yet.

This weekend I plan on doing a lot of work engine wise. Removing and replacing the exhaust is one, as I am going to remove the heads and reseal all that I can.

Anythingelse I should check, this backfiring occurs no matter what grade of gas I use as well.

Thanks,

Michael Knight '77 Westy Deluxe, "el Verde" '85 Vanagon GL, nameless
