I think compared to the amount of these on the road and the average
miles most owners are getting this motor is still way more reliable
then the 2.1 waterboxer. I also own a SAAB and have heard a mountain of
issues with them although I've experienced none.

I still feel with most production cars, vans or trucks if you are good
them they do the same in return. That's not to say some companies
engineer stuff better.

but people still seem to like their cars, unlike some van newbies that
buy a 15-20 year old camper and expect it to have no major mechanical
issues..  which I agree.. the VW head corrosion is poor engineering,
either in metalurgy or design and function..
