In different states, things are different...

In the east, in winter, road crews put down salt. In Colorado and some of the mountain states, they put down gravel, not salt (at the temperatures they are dealing with salt won't get rid of the snow and ice anyway.) So, if you driving down the road, you'll get a LOT of gravel toss in to the front of your van...especially since snow and all terrain tires tend to grab stuff (and let it go) more easily than regular all-season radials.

Hence, if you don't want your front end to have lots of chips in the paint (as mine does), you'll probably want to put a bra on. At least some of the time.
