here is a reply i did to a few guys, i thinks you should be aware of my testing! ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi Eric, there is no sealer suply with the Vicror Reinz German gasket kit.... I use "Dirco" (I got to check the spelling) OR am trying "The right stuff" from Permatex (on the picture) I filled a bucket with coolant, i did some test with 5 sealers soak for a month... i use old aluminum small flat parts and old head gasket part (Rubber) and use different sealent on each one.... the 2 that was not affected at all were the "Dirco" and "The right stuff"... Dirco was suggested by Altrom company, the one that import and distribute the Victor Reinz gasket kit..... The right stuff was suggested by a big VW shop and a few other good auto parts distributors up here. After a month, i tried to separate """sideways""" each one.... 2 came off easily, the Ultra copper permatex was ok, but finnaly came off.... The right Stuff and Dirco were almost impossible to separate, sideways and even when pulling on them.... Both are highly coolant and heat resistant, how to i know, i did try to burned them with a torch.... I m ay be wrong..... that, we will see one day..... http://www.permatex.com/right_stuff/right_stuff1.asp http://www.altrom.com/index.htm http://engineparts.com/products/ghome.htm Cheers, Ben ps.: Altrom sell every Vanagon mechanical parts, the suggesated price on there website is not good!!!! remove at least 1/3 of the price you see.... Most parts are german made... > Ben, > What are you using as a sealer in this picture? > http://www.benplace.com/bjp_head2/100_0036.jpg ???? > > I have use several different types, only to find the > hard way, that the sealer supplied with the gasket kit > is special for the head gasket. |
