Sam, thank you for bring that up ! It was Tim who researched this gasket leaking problem and found this solution. I have been doing it for years with no failures. It's gotta be done right though and the heads have to be determined as reusable. That may be a difficult decision to make for some. As a side note I do hear from Tim from time to time and he still has a fleet of Vanagons and is still fed up with the Vanagon List !
