Hello,I once had a vanagon that had clogged fuel injectors. The van had been sitting for 2 or3 years, and that seems to be enough time to cause the moter not to run.The gas had turned bad and clogged the fi outlets.Once I diagnosed the problem, the fix was ez.First, I removed all injectors. Each had a rubber hose about 1.5 inches long.I used a tea spoon, and filled this hose w/concentrated fuel injector cleaner. The kind that you put into your gas tank.Next,I got an old valve stem from an old tire and carved off the rubber till it would fit into the rubber hose on the fuel injector. I clamped this w/the cleaner inside. Then I attached an electrical fitting to the fuel injector electrical connection. This was donated by Crazy Ray junkyard,Jessup Md.It was the connector that normally goes there, but I could not cut the connector from the van.Next,I attached this connector to a 12volt battery and energised the injector, opening it up.Lastly,I attached a bicycle tire pump to the valve stem and forced the cleaner through the injector.I did this 3 times for each injector.I could see the before and after injection cloud, before my very eyes, and what a difference! It was so clean, that I put these injectors on my good vanagon .That was 15,000 miles ago and they work as new.If you do this ,be sure to have plunty of water avaliable in case of fire.I was real sloppy, and dripped cleaner everywhere, but I couldnt get the cleaner to ignite,no matter how careless I could be. .Maybe the proper connector prevented any spark.Good luck, this is the cheap way out,Roger Sisler |
