Very interesting. You can tell this homebrew- he put the turbo after the muffler. Wow. Turbo relies on exhaust energy for quick spool-up. First rule of thumb is mount turbo as close as possible to exhaust ports. This setup is the equivalent of mounting a turbo to the tailpipe of your car: BIG TIME turbo LAG. He says can run 9 lbs boost on the stock FI setup with 02 enrichment, but he doesn't explain how. Bottom line, he wants $475 for a used turbo and some welded pipes that won't work very well. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Antaki Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 11:38 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: VW VANAGON WATERBOXER CUSTOM TURBO SYSTEM on ePay While wasting time on ePay, I found what looks to be a fairly easy way to scatter yer Wasserdripper. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33553& item =7948439618&rd=1 No intercooler, though. At least you could pass the seller's Greyhound bus! I have no connection whatsoever in this auction nor with the seller. And no interest in the Turbo, either, so Go 4 It!! Ron A. Quadrat |
