Subject: Water Cooled Head Question
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hey everybody I was looking at new heads this weekend and I noticed quite a few that come with a yellow paint on the sealing surface to the gasket.

What is the paint for? Does it help? Is it just a protective coating prior to install?

Bad news is I might need new heads really soon, better plan on pistons and cyllinders as well. Maybe an engine swap is in the future if the rebuild is just as expensive.

Thanks,
