The proper method is to get a coolant system pressure tester- with a pump and an adapter. Pump the system up to about 15 psi and then see if it maintains the pressure. Most leaks will be apparent quickly. If pressure drops off and a leak is not visible, look at the heater cores or consider a head leaking internally.

Hello all, I'm in the process of tracking down coolant leaks. How many lbs of pressure should I use? Is there a risk of over doing it causing damage to the head gasket? My plan is to pressurize the system and just watch it for a few days. Thanks Marcus 91 carat 86 GL
