Stan, The answer is simple. The JB weld is $3.95 a package. How much is the tig welding, and the fly cutting? Cheap, and halfed assed is the best way to go for filling head corrosion pits I guess. JB is OK for a quick fix in a non-essential items. For this job I too would prefer a welded and cut back to stock mating surface. This is the right way in my opinion.
