If you search the archives for JB Weld in posts by Tim Smith and Doug Houg, you will find detailed descriptions of how to fix pitted heads with JB Weld and reports of people having WBX engines that are still going strong after as much as 8 years, and / or 30k, 50k and 60k miles since the application of the product.

I have a number of these posts collected into a couple of files if anyone wants them. I think people should read this information and understand what some others have accomplished and recorded in the archives before dismissively calling it a "half assed" repair. A new set of Boston Bob heads might be better, but a repair that will work as well as what these guys have reported is also a worthwhile alternative. Some heads might be beyond repair by this method, or any method.
