I have neither racks nor bikes to put on them, but the February issue of Pop Science shows a new gas shock assisted roof rack, called the Yakima E-Z Load. Articulating arms move the apparatus from the top down to the side, with the shocks slowing the downward movement and assisting with the upward movement. Not cheap at $400.00. I could not find them on the www.yakima.com site. Jerry

I have had 4 bikes on the back using this rack, and it is basically a Yakima roof system but modified slightly and mounted on the hatch.
