Hi Jim -- Double hardener (with any epoxy) is an absolute guarantee that it will never harden; even a few per cent extra can prevent hardening -- consider the recommended amount as "never-exceed" and aim a bit shy of it so that the margin of error of your measurement won't exceed the recommendation. If you use too little it will cure slowly, but fully. Too much ends up rubbery forever. Since the hardener usually dispenses more easily than the resin, it is very easy to get too much and think it's equal. I struggled with epoxy for years until my father taught me to draw out the resin in a uniform shape and mark it for the correct proportion (we use some stuff that's 1:5), then carefully go a bit shy of that with the hardener. Nary a problem since -- but I would have sworn up down and sideways that I had the amounts correct before. Oh...on the syringe-type dispensers I press mostly on the resin side, and if a little too much hardener comes I suck it back or otherwise remove it.
