The engine was built with a 10.5:1 CR (not on purpose!), and detonation got the better of it. The new one is more respectable 9.2:1, and detonation does not seem to be a problem any more. Hooray for thinking things through!

I will be adding an oil cooler very soon, as i can definitely tell that the oil is getting warm. It will be the air variety.

I will check the timing again, but i have to assume that the cam is installed correctly (Bob Donalds built this particular engine).

Thanks for the input,

-Damon
