That's a good tip. A good example of an unexpected hazard. Sometimes you really have to think these things out. Hope I will remember this one for future ref. I remember getting drenched in gas while pulling the engine on my '69 Westy. IIRC, the fuel line just crumbled when I tried to clamp it. Reaching up to try to stop it, the gas ran down my arm, soaked my clothes, got all over me. I wanted to both jump out from under the van and also stop the leaking. Way too much fuel in the tank. I finally gave up and ran to get pans to catch the fuel as it drained. I ended up with about 5 gallons. That is a pretty terrifying feeling to have gas all over you. Edward |
