Hi Everyone, (Per Bentley, the refill tank is the one you can get at through the license plate door; the other is called the expansion tank) My 1987 Westy puked coolant into the refill tank twice last summer during and after long hot highway drives. I bled the system and did nothing else. The other day the coolant level light went on. Sure enough, the refill tank was overfull and the expansion tank was way down. I refilled and bled and the same thing happened after a highway drive the next day. I noticed a steady stream of bubbles going into the refill tank when the engine is warm. The rate of bubbling _may_ increase with engine RPM but I'm not positive of that yet. I checked the expansion tank cap. It holds pressure. I pressurized the system to 15 PSI with the engine cold. The pressure was 14.5 PSI after one hour. I watched the pressure when I started the engine. It didn't soar immediately. A compression test shows Cyl # Jan 2004 Jan 2005 1 160 145 2 155 157 3 150 143 4 170 165
What's next? I'm gonna look at messages from the last couplea weeks too cuz I remember others going through similar things... Thanks for all suggestions, --tabe johnson xtabe@yahoo.com
