It's interesting that it's running rich after the rebuild and not before. If your valves were messed up before, maybe your O2 sensor is fried. Try disconnecting it.

If not, there is an air/fuel adjustment mixture on the AFM, hex key adjustment. You may need to take off the cover for the screw.

The last resort is to take off the cover of the AFM itself and adjust the spring tension by adjusting the wheel.

Disconnecting the O2 sensor is painless. Messing is with the air/fuel screw on the AFM is fairly safe if you count the number of turns accurately and write it down.

Messing with the wheel can have bad consequences. If you adjust the wheel, get some whiteout marker or nail polish and mark the wheel position prior to adjustment. Then, only move it a single click at a time.

Probably better to find out why it's running rich. Bad O2 sensors cause this frequently.
