Dizzy = Distributor. The plastic connector is where the wires plug into on the side of the distributor. There is a rubber boot that partially conceals this.

There are Eight, 4 small, 4 large. I would say all are critical, but the most critical would be the small ones due to the fact that they seal off the air to the intake runner. The large ones help hold the injector in place along with the bracket. Not sure how often YMMV. Mine were cracked looking/brittle.
