Subject: Re-covering vinyl headliner/doorliner
Comments: To: Diesel-Vanagon@yahoogroups.com

Hi all,

My '82 Westy Diesel has seriously peeling vinyl on the roof and rear upper cabinet headliner. It is the very light beige with a slight texture, and appears much thinner than the stuff used on my '88 Westy. I'm wondering what kind of stuff I can get to recover it, and whether new adhesive will stick to the existing adhesive - it has become very hard, and has taken on the texture of the vinyl. It appears the old adhesive would be very difficult to remove.

Any ideas on materials, methods, etc?

ps: I have dark brown, padded door panels on the front doors, but plain beige vinyl on the sliding/rear doors (matches the headliner). Is this normal for an '82 Westy? I'd love to get rear & sliding door panels to match the front ones, I assume the passenger vans had these?

Thanks.-- Shawn Wright I.T. Manager Shawnigan Lake School
