I went the roofing material substitute brown bread/b-quiet root. I did all of the interior walls when I gutted the van 4 years ago. 4 layers in walls and doors. 3 layers on the floor. It made quite an improvement in noise reduction, and how the doors sound when closed :)

But... I would say a lot of noise still comes through the footwell area (left the stock material in place and from my old door and window seals. I didn't add any material to deck above engine and to slanted area under rear seat, I should do at least the latter for transmission noise comes thru there.

I think it is worth it, especially when it only cost around 80 bucks and i had the interior of the van empty.
